I have read books, listened to podcasts, watched YouTube videos, and scrolled through LinkedIn for years finding more and more interesting topics. Themes start to come to the surface. At one point it was ways of leading people, then managing time. Now it seems to be Building Habits.
And one of the habits I want to build is to get more bang for my buck when it comes to learning from others. So here is the sequence of events that lead me to create this blog:
- I heard of a podcast called Stuff You Should Know
- On one of the shows, they talk with a couple of podcasters that have a podcast How To Money
- The How To Money podcast interviews a blogger 5AM Joel that sends out an email every morning at 5AM with some sort of uplifting message
- I subscribe to the email list from 5AM Joel
- Joel decides to offer a lesson on ways to improve your writing
- I let him know I am interested (figuring there would be hundreds of people that sign up)
- There are only 12 or so people on the call and Joel provides a framework and offers to give feedback on our work (very generous of him!)
- I get my first blog post together and send it to Joel for feedback
- He emails me back a couple of hours later and wants to talk to me!!
- He gives me some great ways of improving the clarity and direction of the post and says that he wants to include it as one of his Friday emails that he will be dedicating to "Guest Writers."
- He runs my post on May 15, 2020 (You can see the post here)
- Then he kindly forwards me some of the feedback that he received where people have said they love the post and the message! (Including from JMoney of the BudgetsAreSexy.com!)
That gave me the motivation to actually push this to the next level.
I'm looking forward to synthesizing my ideas on several topics. I would love to hear the ideas of others as well, so please let me know other ways of thinking about things. We all learn more when we engage with others!
NICE dude. Looking forward to hearing more of your big ideas!
ReplyDeleteFunny that we both first heard Joel on the HTM podcast, subscribed and have been equally inspired by him!!
